TTI and Cisco Conduct a Network Security Seminar for CIOs

February 27, 2009, Makati City, Philippines – Trends & Technologies, Inc. (TTI) together with Cisco held a network security seminar last February 27, 2009, Friday, at the Renaissance Hotel Makati. The event, aptly named Security Best Practices, was designed to address the critical security concerns of enterprises today. The seminar was attended by Chief Information Officers of companies coming from various sectors such as banking and finance, healthcare, manufacturing and telecommunications among others.

The event opened with a brief speech from Mr. Jan Balajadia, Director for Sales and Brand Marketing of Trends & Technologies, who emphasized the importance of securing one’s assets especially in these trying times.

Sharing their knowledge in the seminar were two of Cisco’s foremost security experts. The first was Mr. James Jimeno a Cisco Network Security Consultant who has with him, years of expertise in dealing with top Philippine corporations. Jimeno’s talk entitled “Self-Defending Network as the Foundation for IT Risk Management Framework” focused on the need for higher capacity security appliances that address the ever-increasing requirements for safety measures. He discussed as well, Cisco’s Security Solutions Portfolio which aims to provide business security, intrusion prevention and unified threat management to its users.

The second speaker was Mr. Kevin Lai, Cisco’s Security Sales Specialist for Asia. His discussion entitled “PCI Data Security Standards and Requirements – Securing your Organization’s Most Critical Assets” talked about the Payment Card Industry’s (PCI) rapidly increasing global importance and how PCI compliance encompasses Security Best Practices. As part of his summary, he recommended working closely with an Approved Scan Vendor and Qualified Security Assessor in addition to using Cisco’s PCI Validated Architectures as a guide to ease the design and implementation of one’s security network.

At the end of the seminar the attendees were all well-equipped with knowledge on the latest possible threats to their businesses as well as with the security solutions that Cisco, together with its partner Trends & Technologies has to offer.
